The Prize — a proposal
Two prizes doing two different jobs. One is guaranteed and paid by the sponsor. The other is a long-odds jackpot carried by an insurer, which is what makes a headline number affordable.
1 · Champion's prize · guaranteed
Someone wins the league every single time, so this can't be insured — it's a straightforward sponsor cost. Kept modest and experiential rather than cash.
2 · The jackpot · insured
Long odds by design. An underwriter prices the premium against the chance of it landing; the sponsor pays that premium, the insurer pays any winner. Most years it goes unclaimed — and it is still the reason people enter.
The proposed jackpot condition
The jackpot needs to be genuinely hard to hit, or no underwriter will quote it. The narrower the condition, the cheaper the premium — and the more dramatic the moment when it does land.
One hole. One round. The last day, with hospitality full and the tournament live. Narrow enough to be insurable, and a moment worth watching for.

Likelihoods above are directional only. Actual odds depend on field size, entrant numbers and the exact wording of the condition — all of which an underwriter prices, not us.
Why it's structured this way
- Insurance only prices uncertainty. A prize somebody always wins is a cost, not a risk — so the champion's prize is funded directly and the jackpot is the part that carries odds.
- The Majlis has four par-3s — the 4th, 7th, 11th and 15th. Each six-hole segment contains only one or two of them, so a picked golfer gets very few chances at an ace within their own stretch.
- Entrants share golfers, so a single ace could qualify many entrants at once. The jackpot is therefore a fixed pool split between everyone who qualifies, never a full payout each — that cap is what makes it quotable.
- Nothing is paid by the platform. Entry is free, no money passes through this app, and any insured prize is paid by the underwriter directly.

How It Works
The full ruleset, in one place — everything below is what the app enforces automatically.
1 · The Field & Pools
- 50 golfers, ranked and split into four tiers: Tier A (ranks 1–12), Tier B (13–25), Tier C (26–38), Tier D (39–50).
- The field is arranged into 12 pools of four golfers each — one from every tier per pool.
- Tiers B and C each carry 13 golfers rather than 12, so Pool 12 carries a bonus 5th (extra Tier B) golfer and Pool 11 carries a bonus 5th (extra Tier C) golfer — the two weakest pools, evening things out slightly.
2 · The Draft
- The tournament is split into 12 segments of six holes each (three per round, four rounds).
- Each entrant drafts all 12 golfers upfront, before the tournament begins — click a golfer to draft them; their pool locks immediately and can't be used again.
- Picks fill segments in the order you draft them: your 1st pick covers Segment 1, your 6th covers Segment 6, and so on. The strategy sits entirely in what order you draft your pools, not in reacting to live play.
- Every pool and every golfer can be used only once per entrant, ever. Different entrants may back the same golfer — only one entrant's own picks need stay unique.
- Once all 12 picks are made, hit Submit & lock draft. This freezes every pick — only the organiser can unlock it afterward. Do this before Round 1 tees off; a draft that isn't submitted can still be edited, including with the benefit of hindsight from rounds already played.
3 · Tier Quotas
- Every Pool has one golfer from each tier: A (1–12) · B (13–25) · C (26–38) · D (39–50).
- Across Days 1 & 2, every entrant's picks must include at least one C-rated and one D-rated golfer. The other four of those six early picks are free choice.
- Across Days 3 & 4, every entrant's picks must include at least three B-rated golfers — without this, it's a dominant strategy to stack Tier A for the entire back half of the tournament.
- No team can be submitted unless it meets both quotas — the draft simply won't lock in until they're satisfied.
- Missed-cut waiver: if every remaining golfer in a required tier has missed the real cut before a quota's fulfilled, that requirement is waived.
4 · Scoring & The Cut
- Each segment score is strokes-to-par for those six holes. Scores accumulate — nothing resets.
- Days 1–2 (Segments 1–6) have no eliminations — every entrant plays on regardless of score, exactly like a real tournament before the cut.
- After Round 2, one cut is made: roughly the top 50% by cumulative score survive. If a tie sits right on that line, the cut extends to keep the whole tied group in — the same "and ties" convention as a real tour cut, so nobody's cut on a coin-flip tie.
- Days 3–4 (Segments 7–12) run as a straight, open leaderboard — no further eliminations, purely a race for the best cumulative score.
5 · Ties
- Ties are resolved by countback through the entrant's own segment scores, most recent segment first.
- This compares each entrant's personal run of picks, not the golfer they share.
- A true, fully-tested tie across all 12 segments splits the prize.
